The 2019 Indian action-thriller movie Mardaani 2 is a follow-up to the 2014 film Mardaani. It is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films and directed by Gopi Puthran. Rani Mukerji reprises her previous role as police chief Shivani Shivaji Roy. Her pursuit of a 21-year-old rapist and killer, portrayed by debutant Vishal Jethwa, is the focus of the story. It also stars Sunny Hinduja, Aanchal Srivastava, Jisshu Sengupta, Shruti Bapna and Komal Chabbria, among others in important roles.

A 21-year-old psychopath named Sunny kidnaps Latika, a young woman from Kota, Rajasthan. He sexual assaults and tortures her viciously before killing her. Shivani, who has been named the new superintendent of police in Kota, comes at the crime site and engages in conflict with her sexist subordinate DSP Brij Shekhawat. Shivani is disturbed by the murder's savagery and is much more determined to find the perpetrator.

Sunny, who has actually travelled from Meerut to Kota under the orders of politician Govind Mishra, also known as Panditji, witnesses Shivani on television as she makes a formal commitment to track down Latika's killer. In addition to hiring Pravin, a tea vendor near the police station, to kill the journalist's spouse, Aabha Parihar, in a bomb attack, he also taunts her by breaking into her home and stealing her sari. He then disguises himself as a woman and kills the journalist while acting like a woman, and he also hires Pravin to kill the journalist's wife. He then takes Pravin's place as a tea vendor to keep an eye on her and plays the role of Bajrang, a mute boy.

Lahanya, a young youngster from the ghetto who had seen the explosion, is killed by Sunny when Shivani brings him in. Shivani is scheduled to be moved from Kota as a result of the media frenzy over the police's inability to apprehend the murderer. Shivani and her companions plan to catch Sunny within two days because the new cop won't arrive for another two days. Shivani settles down with Shekhawat because of his extensive network of informers in the city, and he introduces them to one of his contacts who reveals that Viplav Beniwal, a young politician, was really behind the murder of Kamal Parihar. Beniwal's right-hand man Kunwar is taken into custody by Shivani, who is then severely tortured into divulging Sunny's whereabouts.

Sunny, who is posing as Bajrang, is given a ride by Shivani. Shivani intervenes before he can choke her after realising Bajrang is indeed Sunny. Sunny flees the fight between the two. Shivani arranges for Sunny's bystander-shot video to go viral across all social media sites after the cops discover it. In order to get Shivani to accept responsibility, Sunny kidnaps Pandit's grandchild Priyanka and tried to murder her. Shivani and the cops are successful in rescuing the girl. Shekhawat changes his ways and accepts Shivani's assistance. Shivani learns that Sunanda, a female politician, is Sunny's next intended victim. In the thick of the Diwali festivities that evening, Shivani and her group look for him. She finds him holding Sunanda and the daughter of a local couple prisoner in their home. Shivani is tied up after being knocked unconscious. 

When Shivani wakes up, Sunny is choking Sunanda; to divert him, she talks about Sunny's mother and his past, which she learned from Sunny's father, who is being held in Meerut prison. Sunny's mother had been an opinionated woman who Sunny's father had attempted to murder when Sunny was a young child. Sunny's mother had hidden on the terrace out of fear, but after Sunny revealed her whereabouts to his father, the latter killed her. Since then, Sunny has become emotionless due to guilt over his mother's passing and has taken his rage out on other self-assured girls.

Due to Sunny's asthma, Shivani orders the other prisoner and Sunanda to throw the neighbouring paint buckets on him. She then takes over and defeats Sunny using his own belt. The neighbours gather to witness her hitting him as she kicks him outdoors.
