An Indian soap opera called Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, which translates to "What About Your Promise," debuted on Sony Entertainment Television on January 30, 2012, and ended on May 23, 2013. Stars of the programme include Mona Singh, Pawan Shankar, and Mouli Ganguly. 

Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms produced the programme. It stars Mona Singh, Mouli Ganguly, Khushbu Thakkar, Sargun Mehta, Pawan Shankar,Pranav Misshra, Karam Rajpal, and Ekta Saraiya.

The narrative of Pradeep Singh (Pawan Shankar) and Mona Singh (Mona Singh), a couple who reside in Mumbai with their three children Bulbul, Rano, and Rajbeer, is told in the film Kya Huaa Tera Vaada. After twelve years of marriage, they make an effort to find time for one another but their obligations always come first. Mona looks for the family and home while Pradeep works for a large corporation.

An affair begins between Pradeep and his ex-girlfriend Anushka (Mouli Ganguly), who starts working for him as his boss. Pradeep eventually moves in with Anushka after leaving Mona and files for divorce. Shaurya Mitra (Chetan Hansraj), Anushka's ex-husband, begins extorting Mona while she develops into a successful professional. Anushka kills Shaurya out of desperation and allows the police to accuse Pradeep of the crime. Tarun (Raunaq Ahuja), Anushka's adoptive brother, weds Taani, Pradeep's younger sister (Priya Chauhan). In court, Mona establishes Pradeep's innocence. At a party, Anushka tries to assassinate Mona, but Pradeep steps in to save her. Anushka, who is feeling guilty, says that she and Pradeep have a daughter before he passes away. Anushka is imprisoned, but not before she vows to exact revenge on Mona.

. Bulbul is still angry with Pradeep for what he done to her mother even after Pradeep is being laid to rest.

After ten years, Mona's children have grown up. Rajbeer, 15, and Rano, 17, are naughty and carefree. At age 23, Sargun Mehta's character Bulbul is quite rigid but also straightforward, altruistic, and mature. Mona has a restaurant and continues to share memories of Pradeep. After what her father did, Bulbul lost all faith in men, and she is now a journalist who exposes sexabusers. Bulbul learns that Anushka married wealthy Australian Balbir Bhalla after her early release from prison, and that he reared her daughter Anika (Neelam Sivia).

Mona meets Jatin Chopra (Hiten Tejwani), the owner of the news network with which Bulbul is affiliated and whom Pradeep's father had long desired for her to wed. In the wedding, Bulbul's half-sister Anika will be the bride, and the groom will be Mohit Malhotra. When Anushka learns that Vihaan's family is declaring bankruptcy, she persuades Anika to call off the wedding, leaving Vihaan hurt and broken-hearted. Vihaan chooses to work for Jatin and is assigned to Bulbul as his unknowing assistant.

Anika is the daughter of Anushka and Pradeep, she reveals. An enraged Bulbul consumes alcohol and unintentionally tells Vihaan about Pradeep's relationship with Anushka and Anika.

The two are linked. Bulbul recognises her affections for Vihaan with the aid of Rano, and the two fall in love. When Rajbeer returns home after learning that his education in Australia was a fraud, he attempts suicide but is saved by Jatin. Rano falls in love with Rohan, a boy Anushka sent to take advantage of Rano. Anushka saves her and turns Rano on Mona when he starts extorting her. The appointment of Vihaan as the company's chairman infuriates an uninformed Bulbul.

When Mona realises Anushka is to blame for Rajbeer's academic mishap, she informs the media. After a string of miscommunications, Jatin proposes to Mona, and she says yes.

Anushka starts a fire in Mona's restaurant out of rage, injuring Vihaan. After realising her error, Bulbul tells him she loves him. Anika feels bad after seeing Vihaan. After visiting a hurt Mona, Rano and Rajbeer make up with their mother after realising Anushka's actual motives.

Anika decides to move to Mona's house after Anushka reveals the identity of her biological father. Bulbul and Vihaan become misunderstood thanks to Anika. Alok, the father of Pradeep, makes the decision to move into Anushka's home and joins Rano and Rajbeer in trying to trouble Anushka. Vihaan and Bulbul are able to make amends. Anika threatens Vihaan into getting married by fabricating evidence that Rano killed Rohan.

Rano tells Jatin the truth, and Jatin then tells Bulbul everything. They join forces against Anika with Vihaan, and they begin their investigation. When Mona discovers that Rohan is still alive, she confronts Anushka, who immediately comes clean.

Anika overhears Anushka telling someone else that she shot Pradeep and has been using Anika to avenge Mona. She attempts suicide out of heartbreak but is stopped by Jatin and Mona. Anika tells Anushka in a furious tone that she wishes Mona were her mother. Anushka has been broken. Anika reconciles with her family after divorcing Vihaan. Anika falls in love with their coworker Jogi, while Vihaan and Bulbul get married.

Anika is accepted as Rajbeer, Rano, and Bulbul's sister. Bulbul and Vihaan are blessed by Anushka, who also apologises to Mona and informs her that she would be leaving for Australia. Mona converses with Pradeep's image before the show is over.
