An Indian drama television programme called Kasautii Zindagii Kay is created by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms. It was a remake of the eponymous Kapoor soap drama from 2001. The actors who starred in it included Parth Samthaan, Erica Fernandes, Hina Khan, Karan Singh Grover, Reema Worah, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Aamna Sharif, and Karan Patel. It aired on Star Plus from September 25, 2018, to October 3, 2020.

Even though Anurag Basu and Prerna Sharma are soulmates meant to be together, they have to overcome many obstacles in order to be together.

The plot is set in Kolkata and centres on Anurag and Prerna, who both attend the same university. They continue to be drawn together by fate, and as they come to know one another, they develop a bond of trust and understanding. Anurag begins to draw Prerna.

A haughty, self-centered, nasty, and egotistical woman, Komolika Chaubey. Anurag begins to feel something for Prerna, and Komolika becomes fixated with him. Anurag and Prerna openly express their affection for one another, go on dates, and decide to get married. After observing their future plans, Komolika foments miscommunications between them. To save Prerna's home, she asks Anurag to marry her. Anurag concurs, feeling compelled and powerless. Prerna, who was unaware of the truth, is astonished. She is hit by a car while confused and is transported to the hospital, where it is discovered that she is pregnant.

Prerna, who is hurt and disobedient, breaks into the Basu home, successfully exposes Komolika, and arranges for her detention. After breaking out of jail, Komolika rushes back to kill Prerna but trips over a railing and disappears. Prerna and Anurag joyfully reconcile and become engaged.

Businessman Rishabh Bajaj is wealthy, successful, and self-centered. He gets Anurag wrongfully accused and imprisoned. In addition, he requests Prerna's hand in marriage in exchange for Anurag's freedom. She admits she's helpless. Anurag, who is inconsolable, questions Prerna. She tells him lies in the hopes that he will move on, but Anurag is steadfast and won't give up on their love. Beginning to fall for Prerna is Rishabh.

Rishabh makes an attempt to kill Anurag after learning that Prerna loves him. He backs down when his daughter Kukki suffers harm while attempting to stop Rishabh. Prerna and Anurag are back together.

Komolika makes a return out of retaliation. Anurag learns that Prerna is pregnant, and the two are happy as they prepare to wed. Komolika is to blame for Anurag's mishap.

Anurag begins to lose his memories a month later. In order to trick Anurag and the Basus into thinking they were married, Komolika assumes a false persona and takes advantage of the situation. When Prerna learns Komolika's identity, she considers outing her but decides against it since she thinks it could harm Anurag's memory. Every time Komolika tries to murder Prerna and her child, she is unsuccessful.

Sneha is born, and Anurag gets his memory back. Anurag is threateningly accused of murdering Prerna by Komolika. She requests that Anurag act out pushing her off the bridge. In an effort to keep Prerna and Anurag apart, Rishabh, who still has emotions for her, advises Anurag to execute the plan. When Anurag declines, Komolika threatens Prerna with a life sentence in prison. Anurag, who is helpless, accepts and asks Rishabh to swear to save Prerna.

Prerna is pushed off a bridge by Anurag, who is then saved by Rishabh. After leaving Sneha at an orphanage, Komolika pays a labourer to set the building on fire.

Prerna arrives at the orphanage reeling from shock and sadness and is horrified to discover it on fire. Prerna, who is beyond repair, relocates to London with Rishabh.

Prerna flourishes as a prosperous businesswoman in London eight years later, and Anurag's enterprise is thriving in Kolkata. Prerna still hates Anurag for betraying her while maintaining a formal relationship with Rishabh. Anurag despises Komolika and is plagued with remorse. To exact revenge for her daughter's murder, Prerna departs towards Kolkata. Unaware that she is Sneha, Anurag and Prerna encounter an orphan and develop a strong bond with her.

Anurag severes connections with Komolika, tells Prerna the truth, and presents the evidence to her. He describes how Rishabh isolated him despite his repeated attempts to get in touch with her. They meet up again, remembering the time they missed and the suffering they endured, and they get remarried. Enraged, Komolika stabs Prerna, but when Rishabh tries to save Prerna, he is wounded instead. Komolika stabs Rishabh back, killing her in the process. Prior to passing away, Rishabh apologises to Prerna and Anurag for being ungrateful and causing them to stay apart and requests that they take care of Kuki.

After a month, Anurag and Prerna are content in Kolkata with their daughter Sneha.
