The enigma of Kaal Bhairav is the subtitle for the Indian thriller television series Kaal Bhairav Rahasya. The television show aired from October 2017 to April 2019 across two seasons. Based on the writings of Indra Soundarrajan, both seasons have been produced. The first season's plot is based on his A Secret (Ragasiyamaga Oru Ragasiyam) in Tamil. The second season's narrative is based on Soundarrajan's eerie suspense novella The Palace of Kottaipuram (Kottai Purathu Veedu). Although several cast members participated in both seasons as various characters, the show featured a different cast each season.
The tale is based on the Tamil novel Ragasiyamaga Oru Ragasiyam, which was also adapted into an Indra Soundarrajan television series called Marmadesam that aired in the 1990s.It stars Rahul Sharma, Sargun Kaur Luthra, Rajesh Puri, Chhavi Pandey, Sonia Singh, Arun Singh Rana.
A reporter named Inder (Mohammed Iqbal Khan) visits the Kaalbhairav temple in Bandipur at the start of the narrative. After the villagers have left, he remains in the temple. He is alone at night and hears unusual noises; the following morning, he is discovered dead. Arun Singh Rana's Inspector Akshay decides to remain at the temple to do his investigation. That evening, a gunshot is followed by the sound of drums once more. They discover Akshay has vanished in the morning.
The villagers are informed by a young guy named Nandu (Rahul Sharma) that he has come to serve as the village priest's assistant. He makes friends with the village chief, Namrata (Chhavi Pandey), the daughter of Dada Thakur, and Gauri, the priest's daughter (Sargun Kaur Luthra).
After Inder's passing, his widow Preeti (Puja Joshi) and daughter Minty move into the village to investigate the circumstances behind Inder's passing. Aditya (Ahwaan Kumar), Namrata's brother, likes Preeti, but she distrusts everyone in the hamlet. Rahul, Inder's younger brother, is revealed to be Nandu, who is also conducting a covert investigation into Inder's passing. He reveals his identity to Namrata and Aditya, who swear to keep it a secret. Despite finding Inder's video footage, Rahul and Namrata are left in the dark.
During Janmaashtami celebrations, Nandu / Rahul wins the dahi haandi competition and requests Data Thakur's permission to spend the night in the temple as his reward. Despite living, Nandu suffers serious injuries. Dada Thakur wants Inder's family to leave the village after learning Rahul's identity. Rahul thinks that someone kills people in the temple while posing as Kaal Bhairav. He initially suspects the Sarpanch, the local chief, and Shakti Thakur, but it turns out that they are innocent.
Rahul and Namrata both fall in love, but Rahul is preoccupied with his hunt. To exact revenge for his insult, Lakhanpal locks Gauri in the temple after dusk. Gauri offers all-night prayers to Kaal Bhairav and is delivered. She begins to have dreams that come true. Finally, it is made clear that Namrata is the enigma behind every murder. She is compelled to murder her own brother once Aditya discovers her secret.
Rahul and Gauri are evading Lakhanpal while Data Thakur learns Namrata's secret and makes an effort to resist her. He is overpowered by her and her men, and she explains that she is seeking retribution for Data Thakur's murder of her mother. In addition, she desires Rahul's affection and the nine golden Shiva Lingas (idols). Additionally, she admits that she has left a trail of evidence connecting Data Thakur to all of the murders.
Rahul develops feelings for Gauri in the meantime. Gauri chooses to wait until there is peace in the community even if Preeti and Gauri's father accepts their love. The hunt for the nine golden Shiva lingas is the main theme of the narrative. Namrata and Gauri hunt for them while maintaining their innocence by following Gauri's dreams, even though Namrata intends to kill Gauri once the search is over. Rahul, Dr. Srivastava, and CID Officer Yash Pal are all searching for the idols as well.
In order to keep Data Thakur and Lakhan Pal quiet, Namrata is discreetly assisted by her friend Latika (Simar Kaur Suri). Namrata locates five of the nine Shiva lingas with success. Gauri gradually understands Namrata's actual motives.Data Thakur and Lakhan Pal are successfully saved, and they band together to reveal Namrata. Namrata and Rahul encounter a man who is in possession of a Shiva linga while trying to find another one. He is emotionally manipulated by Namrata, who he then demonstrates how to use magic to control Rahul. Latika attempts to talk her out of it, but Namrata turns her down. When Gauri tells Rahul about Namrata, Rahul uses the magic to try to kill Gauri on Namrata's orders. Latika appears to change her ways and saves Gauri.
Then it is made known that Inder is still alive and continues going by Seth ji. He pretended to die in order to buy the nine idols. It is revealed that Inder's second wife, Latika, had been his coworker. Rahul is threatened with death in the temple, but Namrata, who has changed and is prepared to atone, intervenes to save him. She dashes and uses a trishool to pin Latika to the wall by stabbing her in the stomach. Inder becomes enraged after witnessing Latika's death, picks up a knife, and then stabs Namrata in the stomach, killing her in Rahul's arms.
The temple is surrounded by irate villagers, though. They are threatened by Inder, who claims to have planted bombs throughout the area and will set them off.
In that instant, Lord Kaal Bhairav in disguise is revealed to be none other than Rudra, the truck driver who had claimed to be a representative of God, and he arrives to help Rahul, Gauri, and the other villagers. He kills Inder, returns the Shiva Lingas to the temple, and then vanishes with Shambhu Baba, his mount, who is later identified (vaahan).
