For Malti Choudhry, Pandit Shadiram Gharjode brings a potential groom's family. However, after learning that the family isn't extremely wealthy, her dad Choudhry Hoshiyar Chand insults Gharjode. He promises to give Hoshiyar Chand a lesson for his pride and haughtiness.
Shadiram Gharjode runs into Raju Coolie, a bus stand porter who proudly sports the tag Coolie No. 1, on the way home. As a recent example of his bravery, Raju recently succeeded in getting drug dealer Mahesh arrested. When Raju falls for Malti's photo, Gharjode devises a scheme to marry the unfortunate porter to Malti and wreak revenge. Raju impersonates Kunwar Mahendra Pratap Singh Mehta, the prince of Singapore, with the assistance of Gharjode and his closest friend Deepak Mechanic, winning Malti's affection. Shalini, Malti's sister, falls in love with Deepak during this procedure.
Hoshiyar Chand marries Malti to Raju without realising that he is only a struggling porter. After the wedding, Raju pretends that his 'father,' Gajendra Pratap Singh Mehta, has kicked him out of the mansion for getting hitched without his approval when he returns home with Malti. Malti makes an effort to make the most of the circumstances by encouraging Mahendra, which causes him to feel bad.
When Hoshiyar Chand, who is in town to see his daughter and son-in-law, recognises Raju as a coolie at the bus stop, the trouble multiplies. Hoshiyar Chand stirs up trouble by accusing Raju of being a phoney who married his daughter while posing as a wealthy prince. Raju yells Hoshiyar Chand away on the spur of the moment while acting as though he is unfamiliar. When Hoshiyar Chand returns home dressed as Mahendra, Raju reveals that he must have met his twin brother Raju, whom his father had expelled because of his drinking and gambling problems. Hoshiyar Chand intends to get both of his daughters married to Raju after purchasing this tale so they may both lead lavish lives.
Since he can only be in one location at once, Raju keeps getting into problems. One of these events prompts Raju, Malti, and Hoshiyar Chand to report Kunwar Mahendra Pratap Singh Mehta missing. Inspector Rakesh Pandey becomes dubious of the circumstance and begins to think that Raju and Mahendra, his twin, are the same person.
Due to his illegal acts, Mahesh Pratap Mehta has been disowned by his father, Gajendra Pratap Singh Mehta. Mahesh stabs Gajendra and blames Raju for it in an effort to get even with him and Raju. When Inspector Pandey arrives to make the arrest, Raju tells him that Gajendra is still alive and requires urgent medical attention. As a result, Gajendra flees from police custody. As this is Raju's sole means of proving his innocence, he runs to Deepak, and the two of them come up with a scheme to pose as Singaporean nurses in order to save Gajendra's life. When Hoshiyar Chand, Malti, and Shalini arrive at the hospital, Inspector Pandey informs them that Raju is merely a hapless porter who purported to be Kunwar Mahendra Pratap Singh Mehta.
Raju and Deepak encounter Shalini, Hoshiyar Chand, and Malti while attempting to save Gajendra. Shalini has come to terminate her pregnant child due to Deepak. Malti accepts Raju's admission that he had been deceiving her. To stop Mahesh from killing Gajendra, Raju and Deepak receive assistance from Hoshiyar Chand and Malti. Gajendra declares as soon as he regains consciousness that Raju is like a son to him because Raju saved his life. Shalini confesses her affection for Deepak as well. When Hoshiyar Chand laments that his sons-in-law are a mechanic and a porter, Shaadiram Gharjode responds that it was inevitable for someone who was so conceited and proud of his fortune. According to Gharjode, love is the key to a successful marriage—wealth is not necessary.
