Mumbai-based Aaliya Khan and Abhay Gulati have been close friends for more than ten years, Aaliya is not ready to get married. She instead decides to abruptly relocate to Australia to live with her aunt. She finds her aunt to be quite strict and well-organized upon arrival and ultimately decides to move out to live with Nadia and Cyrus. 

Abhay travels there worried about her safety but is met with a cool response. He starts driving a taxi and eventually transitions to selling home-cooked food, while she starts acting. When he ultimately makes it home, Aaliya is completely shocked to learn that he is engaged.

Critics gave Break Ke Baad moderate to excellent reviews, praising Padukone's performance in particular. Over its opening weekend, Break Ke Baad made Rs. 205 million in revenue.
