Begum Jaan is a Hindi historic period drama movie directed by Srijit Mukherji and starring Vidya Balan from the year 2017. The movie is set in 1948 after the independence of India.

The film is a remake of the critically acclaimed Bengali film Rajkahini directed by Srijit Mukherji as well.

Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film is produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt, Mahindra Soni, and Srikanto Mohta under the production Banners of Shree Venkatesh Films. The main Begum Jaan casts include, Vidya Balan, Illa Arjun, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapoor, Mishti Chakravarty, Poonam Rajput, and Gracy Goswami.

Anu Malik created the soundtrack for the movie, and Kausar Munir wrote the song lyrics.

The plot follows Sir Cyril Radcliffe, the head of the Border Commission, who chooses to partition India and Pakistan into equally sized halves on the eve of independence. The line that splits Begum Jaan's brothel in two, with one half falling in India and the other in Pakistan, is something the government fails to take into account. The movie is the tale of eleven prostitutes who, during the partition of India and Pakistan, remained loyal to both their brothel and one another.

The film received an IMDB rating of 5.6 out of 10. The film gained mixed to almost negative reviews from the audience as well as critics which made it earn only around Rs 30 crores in total at the Box Office.
