The film was in direct competition with God Tussi Great Ho, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Priyanka Chopra, when it was out on August 15, 2008, the eve of India's Independence Day. The former struggled, but Bachna Ae Haseeno was a success at the box office, becoming Kapoor's first hit and the eighth-highest-grossing movie of the year.

The film got an IMDB rating of 6.1 out of 10 and ended up collecting 61..7 million rupees at the box office.
