Adipurush is an Indian mythical action film released in 2023. The movie is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Om Raut directed and co-wrote the film, which was co-produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage star in the film, which was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu.

An official motion poster for the film was released in August 2020. Adipurush started filming in February 2021 and completed in November 2021, largely in Mumbai. Ajay-Atul composed the film's music.

Adipurush Release Date

The teaser for the film was released on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2022. The teaser got a lot of negative feedback because people didn't like the way it looked with all the special effects. The trailer for Adipurush came out on May 9, 2023, and was regarded as an upgrade over the teaser.

The film was set to be released theatrically on January 12, 2023, in standard, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats. However, it was delayed to improve the visual effects because of the strong negative response following the teaser trailer. Adipurush was released on June 16, 2023, in Hindi and Telugu, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Within 24 hours of its release, the teaser of Adipurush received 69 million views and 1 million likes, making it the second most-viewed Indian film teaser after KGF: Chapter 2. The first images from the movie caused a lot of talk on social media. But most of them were negative, which was a surprise.

The 1:46-minute teaser, despite having a lot of VFX and pleasant visuals of natural landscapes, had a lot of unpleasant scenes that made the audience question the logic behind the 500-crore budget. The film's teaser is getting many negative reviews, such as the visuals being super bad, as well as the scene where Saif Ali Khan is seen riding a Giant bat being copied from the popular series Game of Thrones.

Adipurush started off with a bang, but unfortunately, its collections took a decline on Monday and continued to drop on Tuesday. After two weeks, News18 Telugu announced that the movie had made Rs.388.35 crore worldwide, with the distributors taking home Rs.191.42 crore.

Even though the production company claimed the movie had made Rs.450 crore in worldwide revenue, News18 Telugu reported that the movie had only made around Rs.300 crore in India.

Adipurush had a great start at the box office, but its performance declined. Adipurush has been declared a flop movie of 2023 at the box office due to its controversial content and disappointing work by the filmmakers.
