Balakrishna, a Tollywood star, is back with another powerful film, Veera Simha Reddy. The film, directed by Gopichand Malineni, was released today.
Jaya Simha Reddy (Balakrishna) lives in Istanbul with his mother, Meenakshi (Honey Rose). He falls in love with Eesha (Shruti Haasan) and marries her. The identity of Jayas father, Veera Simha Reddy, who lives in Rayalaseema and rules Pulicharla, is then revealed by Meenakshi. For 30 years, Bhanumathi (Varalaxmi) and Pratap Reddy (Duniya Vijay) have wanted to murder Veera Simha Reddy. Why do they wish to murder Veera? Who exactly is Bhanumathi? What made Veera Simha Reddy abandon his wife and son?
Nandamuri Balakrishna is the first plus point to mention. He carries the entire film on his shoulders. Balayyas royal appearance, charisma, swagger, and style are his most valuable assets. His dialogue delivery and aggressive nature in action sequences are both effective. Balakrishna demonstrated yet again that he is the god of the masses. His performance in emotional scenes, particularly in the second half, deserves to be recognized. He also dazzles with his energetic dance moves in a couple of songs.
The performance of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as Bhanumathi will astound audiences. She has played many aggressive roles in the past, but her character in this film is well-designed. Her fight scenes with Balayya are fantastic, and she nails them. Her performance in the second half is one of the films most vital points.
Another memorable character is Pratap Reddy, played by Duniya Vijay, who seeks vengeance on Veera Simha Reddy. His brutality is brilliantly displayed. This is s his Tollywood debut, and the TFI gets to see another outstanding performer in the villain role. His fight scenes with Balakrishna are entertaining and whistle-worthy.
Honey Rose makes a solid debut and is given ample opportunities to shine in various scenes. Lal as Siddappa, Naveen Chandra as Sekhar, and others all played their parts well.
The screenplay is racy, and the director does an excellent job designing every character. Gopichand demonstrates that he can also direct a straight-up action film with this film. The songs and background score are both fantastic. Ram and Lakshman once again show their ability to create stunts that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
In this regard, the story takes first place. The director chooses a classic tale that has been seen in many films before. He does run the show well by writing a neat and flawless screenplay. The second half is a little longer and draggy compared to the first half. Meanwhile, its also predictable. Most of the scenes in the second half should have been cut, particularly in the flashback episode.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has a substantial role in this film, but her older appearance is unimpressive. In many scenes, she appears pale, and the makeup artists should have taken better care of her appearance.
Shruti Haasan appears only in songs and a few scenes. She is a good dancer, but the director should have given her more sets, at least in the second half. Eeswari Rao serves no purpose in the film.
The director has written a fantastic screenplay that moves quickly in the first half but slows down in the second. In many places, the second half could be more active. The director should have focused more on the story, which would have made the movie more interesting.
Some scenes in the flashback episode should be cut to improve the films overall experience. Rishi Punjabis camerawork and Thamans score are both excellent. They contributed significantly to the films success. The art department also gives its all. The production values are incredibly high, as evidenced by the large screen.
Veera Simha Reddy is a decent action entertainer with all the commercial elements to keep Balakrishna fans happy. Balakrishna is fantastic as Veera Simha Reddy, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar also dazzles everyone with her performance. The second half falls flat, and the film would have been a box office smash if it had been as engaging as the first. Its a treat for fans and an enjoyable experience for action fans. This Sankranthi, watch it to enjoy the mass of Balayya.
