Superstar Krishna Died

Veteran actor Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, famously known as Superstar Krishna, passed away on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 at 4 am in a private hospital. Actor Krishna suffered a cardiac arrest and was immediately brought to the hospital for emergency treatment at 1:15 am and put on a ventilator. A team of super-speciality doctors tried to revive him but failed to do so. Superstar Krishna’s age was 79 when he passed away.

Superstar Krishna’s Biography

Krishna was the father of one of this generation's most popular Telugu actors, Mahesh Babu. Krishna was also one of the most famous actors of his time. He had acted in over 350 films and also directed and produced some of the biggest hits of Telugu cinema. Krishna was conferred with the Padma Bhushan award in 2009 for his contribution to cinema.

Superstar Krishna’s Political Journey

Krishna also had tried his luck in politics, joining Congress and becoming a Member of Parliament in the process. He, however, left his political ambitions after the assassination of the then Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. 

Deaths in Mahesh Babu’s Family

Mahesh Babu and his family have had a rough 2022 so far. Mahesh Babu’s mother and Krishna’s wife Indira Devi passed away in September 2022. Mahesh Babu’s brother Ramesh Babu also passed away this year in January due to liver-related ailments. Krishna’s second wife, Vijaya Nirmala, who was also an actress and acted in over 40 films with him, passed away in the year 2019.

Media Reaction to Superstar Krishna’s Death

The entire nation is mourning the loss of such a legendary South Superstar. Krishna was equally loved by the fans and the people from the film industry. Several prominent personalities like PM Narendra Modi, Rajinikanth, Ram Charan, Mammootty, Vijay Deverakonda and Allu Arjun paid their respects either via social media or in person. 

Superstar Krishna’s Funeral 

Superstar Krishna’s last rites will take place on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 at Mahaprasthanam with full state honours. Fans can visit the Gachibowli Stadium where Superstar Krishna’s mortal remains will be kept for the fans to pay homage to such a legendary actor. The gates to the stadium will open on 15th November at 5 pm where they will be able to see one of the finest actors of his generation, Superstar Krishna for one last time.
