Meet Eksha Subba, India's very own Wonder Woman!

Born in the Rumbuk village in Sikkim to parents Aitaraj Subba and Sukrani Subba, Eksha had always dreamt of becoming a model from a very young age. She had little to no means of achieving her dreams and had to work tirelessly towards a life she and her parents could be proud of. 

Eksha’s father Aitaraj Subba introduced her to the world of boxing when she was young. He always encouraged her to take up boxing as a means to maintain fitness. Eksha attended a local boxing class in her village which helped her not only in maintaining fitness, but also gain core strength which was one of the factors that helped her in becoming a police officer.

Eksha Subba worked day and night to achieve her dreams but being the eldest sibling and also the sole breadwinner of her family, she had to take up a job while she was still in college. Eksha even won the title of Ms Fresher during her college freshers.

Eksha joined the police force at the age of 19, after going through a 14-month training which required her to go through various insurmountable conditions. After completing her training, Eksha was selected for Sikkim’s Anti-Riot Force.

While she was in the force, Eksha did not lose focus from realising her dreams of becoming a model. With the help of her seniors and her family, she managed to get into the reality TV Show ‘MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2’ after acing her audition rounds and becoming one of the top nine contestants in the show. Eksha managed to impress the judges of MTV Supermodel of the Year, Malaika Arora, Anusha Dandekar and Milind Soman, with her never-give-up attitude and self-confidence that would put even the greatest of personalities to shame. 

Eksha’s determination helped her bag the runner-up title in the Reality TV Show ‘MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2’. She was praised by the judges throughout the entirety of the show, with Malaika Arora even giving her a standing ovation for her talents that surpasses physical and mental boundaries. 

Even popular personalities like Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, praised her talents via a Twitter post, He said that he had tweeted about India’s IronMan from Manipur so here is another tweet about a superhero that puts even Wonder Woman to shame. He also addressed Eksha’s love for bikes and continued the tweet by saying that his team should gift her a Jawa bike.

Even though Eksha Subba had to cross major hurdles like the language barrier and the lack of industry connections, she still managed to make her dream of becoming a model, a reality with sheer determination and grit second to none. Her background as a defence personnel helped her make the most of every opportunity presented to her and become an inspiration to millions across the country.
