Ekta Kapoor becomes the only Indian television producer, film producer, and director who is well known for her work in both television and film industry to feature in the list of 40 most influential women in International Film.
After creating more than 130 Indian daily soaps and being the driving force behind the Balaji Telefilms, Ekta kapoor is now on the list by the prominent entertainment portal which celebrates women who, in spite of a fragmented film industry, are telling tales on a worldwide scale and fostering new voices.
Ekta Kapoor started her career in the entertainment industry very early in her life when she was 17 years old and was honoured with a Padma Shri award in 2020. She has always been in the limelight for creating stories empowering women and constantly pushing boundaries by revolutionary cinemas.
She launched the OTT platform ALT Balaji in 2017 with a selection of web programmes that appeal to a wide range of consumers. Also made her film debut in 2001 when she founded Balaji Motion Pictures. She has produced numerous soap operas including Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi, Hum Paanch, Kasauti Zindagi ki, Pavitra Rishta.
This list by The Hollywood Reporter’s Inaugural International Women in Entertainment refers to the 40 executives on the list as ‘survivors’. It contains women from different countries including Sweden, Nigeria, Germany, and France.
Ekta Kapoor’s unwavering persistence in creating and producing timeless movies and daily soap operas have contributed to the world of entertainment. She is now working on her untitled collaborations.
After so many awards and this recognition by being the only Indian in the 40 most Influential women in International film, looks like she is definitely continuing the legacy.
