Romance is one of the things that defines Bollywood films. However, certain Hindi films have stood out for the bromance rather than the romance. For those who are unaware, bromance is a very close bond between two men, which goes deeper than friendship.

Many of us are lucky to have bromances in our own lives. Here are some of the best Bollywood bromances which will make you think fondly of your bros.

Sam and Kunal in Dostana

One of the best films of the late 2000s in India was Dostana. A significant reason for this Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham who play Sam and Kunal respectively, have a strong bromance right from the start. However, they take it to the next level when they pretend to be gay to get an apartment. Navigating the situation together, they bring many laughs with their antics.

Rohan and Abhimanyu in Student Of The Year

Student of The Year marked the debuts of Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. Varun Dhawan, playing the charismatic and extroverted Rohan and Siddharth Malhotra, playing the more reserved and shy Abhimanyu had an incredible on-screen chemistry. Though their bromance goes from being as thick as thieves to being in conflict with each other, the two characters have a genuine love and understanding for each other in spite of everything.

Raju and Shyam in Hera Pheri

When people are asked to name the greatest comedy film of India, one name that often comes to mind is Hera Pheri. Raju, played by Akshay Kumar and Shyam, played by Suniel Shetty initially cannot stand each other and are constantly at each other’s throats. However, through this conflict they develop a bond and become incredibly close. Their shenanigans with the hilarious Babu Bhaiya, played by Paresh Rawal, are some of the highlights of the film.

Munnabhai and Circuit in Munnabhai

Munna Bhai M.B.B.B.S was the film that turned Rajkumar Hirani into one of the best comedy directors of India. One of the key factors to its success was the relationship between the characters, Munna Bhai and Circuit, played by Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi respectively. Circuit, the endearing sidekick of Munna Bhai had great love for him and the two of them had many typical bro moments together.

Amar and Prem in Andaz Apna Apna

Though it was not very successful when it was released, Andaz Apna Apna would go on to become one of the most loved films of the 1990s. The protagonists, Amar and Prem, played respectively by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan go from strangers to best friends. Both actors bring in their quirkiness and charm to make this film enjoyable and memorable.

Jai and Veeru in Sholay

The most memorable bromance in Bollywood is undoubtedly that of Jai and Veeru in Sholay. Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s on-screen chemistry as literal partners in crime was among the many elements that have made Sholay a classic. Nobody can forget the sentimentality and emotion captured as they ride together on a bike as the song Yeh Dosti plays, reminding us of the good times with our own bros.
