Adipurush, one of the most highly anticipated Indian mythological action films of 2023, has finally hit the screens. Directed and co-written by Om Raut, the film brings to life the revered Hindu epic, Ramayana, with a star-studded cast. However, despite the immense anticipation surrounding the release, Adipurush has received negative reviews from critics.
The film, known for its grand scale and visual spectacle, promised to transport audiences into the mythical world of Ramayana with larger-than-life action sequences and breathtaking visual effects. Prabhas, known for his charismatic performances, stepped into the iconic role of Lord Rama, while Saif Ali Khan played the complex character of the antagonist, Ravana, with his signature intensity.
Unfortunately, despite the star power and the rich source material, Adipurush fell short of expectations for many. Adipurush cast also includes Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage.
Adipurush has been heavily criticised for its dialogues, which were deemed to be poor in quality. The film failed to uphold the dignity and admiration associated with the mythological tale it aimed to portray. The dialogues, which play a crucial role in conveying the emotions and depth of the characters, fell short of expectations and left a negative impact on the viewers.
The negative reviews that Adipurush received, particularly focusing on the poor and vulgar dialogues, highlight the importance of responsible storytelling and respecting the source material. After considering the opinions of both the public and the reviewers, the creator of Adipurush came to the conclusion that some lines of speech in the film needed to be rewritten because they were not well received by the crowd.
The following are some examples of lines from the movie that not only caused viewers to cringe but also hurt the feelings of those who trusted the film's creators.
One of the most infamous and mocked lines was -
Kapda tere baap ka, tel tere baap ka, aag bhi tere baap ki, aur jalegi bhi tere baap ki
It has now been changed to -
Kapda teri Lanka ka, tel teri Lanka ka, aag bhi teri Lanka ki, aur jalegi bhi teri Lanka hi.
Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko lamba kar diya… bhara pada hai.
Tu andar kaise ghusa… tu jaanta bhi hai kaun hoon main.
Jo hamari behno ko haath lagayenge, unki Lanka laga denge.
Yeh toh phesaddi hai
Bohot shubh yatrayein dekhli humne, ab shav yatra dekhnee ki baari hai.
Aap apne kaal ke liye kaalee bicha rahe hai.
Ye teri bua ka bageecha hai jo hawa khane chale aya.
Jo humari behno ko haath lagayenge, unki lanka laga denge.
Aaj tu khada hai, kal letega.
Aur koi kaam nahi bacha? Bandar pakadne laga.
Main toh Bhole ko bula raha tha, yaha toh Bhole-Bhale chale aaye.
Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko samapt kar diya… bhara pada hai.
Tum andar kaise ghuse… tum jaante bhi ho kaun hoon main.
Jo hamari behno ko haath lagayenge, unki Lanka mein aag laga denge.
While the film's dialogue received negative reviews, it is important to acknowledge that opinions on artistic works are subjective. Some viewers may still find elements to appreciate, such as the visual spectacle or performances by the talented cast. However, it is clear that the dialogue writing in Adipurush missed the mark, disappointing fans and hindering the film's potential impact.
