The Filmfare Awards are one of the most prestigious cinematic events dedicated to the Hindi film industry. The awards were established in 1954 and celebrated its 68th anniversary on Thursday. Many young artists realised their dreams of winning the iconic Black Lady at the most recent event.
The Jio World Conventional Centre in Mumbai hosted the 68th edition of the Hyundai Filmfare Awards on April 27, 2023 in magnificent style after much controversy over who would and would not attend.
Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Janhvi Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, Vicky Kaushal, and many other celebrities walked the red carpet to start the gorgeous evening. Along with Ayushmann Khurrana and Maniesh Paul.
The 68th Filmfare Awards will be hosted by Salman Khan and co-hosted by Maniesh Paul.
The Times Group conducted a press conference to announce the 68th Hyundai Filmfare Awards. Salman Khan was an honoured guest during the news conference. Mr. Jitesh Pillai, Editor of Filmfare, Mr. Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, and Mr. Deepak Lamba, CEO of Worldwide Media were among the panellists at the press event.
The Filmfare trophies ceremony is much more than just the presenting of the trophies. The outstanding performances of the top Bollywood celebs are also highlighted at the Filmfare Award presentation. Fans always look forward to seeing these dynamic and lively performances on award night. To make the ceremony more entertaining, a different celebrity is asked to perform each year. Several celebrities, including Jhanvi Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vicky Kaushal, Tiger Shroff, and Salman Khan performed at the ceremony this year.
Alia Bhatt was named the deserving Best Actor (Female) winner, and Gangubai Kathiawadi was named the top movie. Sanjay Leela Bhansali received the Best Director prize after completing the sweep.
Badhaai Do earned critics' choice honours for Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao, and Sheeba Chaddha, and the social comedy-drama was also named Best Film (critics' choice).
While Kartik Aaryan did not receive an award for his critically acclaimed film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee, Tabu was named Best Actress (Critics' Choice). What came as a nice surprise was Sanjay Mishra's triumph for Best Actor (Critics' Choice) for his critically praised film Vadh, which also starred Neena Gupta.
Brahmastra was a big box office success, yet it did not win any major awards. It did, however, win the best music album award, while Amitabh Bhattacharya won best lyrics for the film's iconic song "Kesariya" and Arijit Singh won best playback singer (male) for the same song.
The awards honoured talent from Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund, with Ankush Gedam receiving best debuting actor (male) and Andrea Kevichüsa of Anek winning best freshman actress (female). Prem Chopra, a veteran actor, received the lifetime achievement award.
