Karn Vinod Sharma is a cricketer from Meerut. A skilled all-rounder, he plays for the Railways Cricket Team and has actively been a part of different IPL teams, at present being involved with Royal Challengers Bangalore. He excels as both a left-hand batsman as well as leg break bowler.

International Career

When Karn Sharma played England on September 7, 2014, it was his first T20I match.

He made his debut against Sri Lanka on November 13, 2014. Regretfully, he was unable to bat for the team because of his awful debut performance with the ball.

After making his ODI debut one month earlier, on December 9, 2014, he made his Test debut against Australia. In the contest, he dismissed his IPL teammate David Warner twice and claimed four wickets in the first two innings. He did, however, only able to score 8 runs in 2 innings.

n 2009, he made an appearance for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In 2013, the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL franchise signed him. The opposition batters were anticipated to target young Sharma as the bowler in a line-up that included Dale Steyn, Thisara Perera, and Amit Mishra.

In response, he gave a composed performance. His early-tournament performance against Kings XI Punjab provided good evidence of his ability as he used his spin to defeat the Kings XI batsmen.

Following a bidding war with Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired him for Rs 3.75 crore during the 2014 IPL auctions. In the 2014 IPL, he was the highest paid uncapped Indian player.

He was kept on by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 and is the team's principal spin bowler. He won the Indian Premier League with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 after being kept in the squad for that year.

He was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings in January 2018 for ₹5 crores during the 2018 Indian Premier League auction. He went on to win the trophy that year and held the exceptional record of being the three-time champion of the IPL with three different clubs. He was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in February 2022 during the Indian Premier League 2022 auction.
